About
Hi, I’m Matt Langford.
I’m a husband, dad, pastor, preacher, and occasional web designer—usually in that order, though it depends on the day. I live in Lafayette, Louisiana, where I serve as Pastor at Landmark Church, a community of people trying to follow Jesus in honest and imperfect ways.
I’ve spent over a decade in ministry, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that pastoral leadership isn’t about having the right answers—it’s about showing up, listening well, and telling the truth with grace. Preaching is a big part of what I do, and I try to approach it like a craftsman: thoughtful, persistent, and usually surrounded by open tabs, scribbled notes, and a cold Dr Pepper. I love helping people connect Scripture to the real, gritty parts of life—where faith isn’t polished, but it’s powerful.
Outside of Sundays, I spend a lot of time prepping for the next one. This blog is where I make sense of the mess: sermon prep systems that both work and fall apart, reflections on church life, thoughts on productivity and creativity, and the ongoing challenge of saying something that matters week after week. You’ll also find some experiments with tech and tools—I enjoy clean workflows and software that stays out of the way.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Louisiana. Before moving to a full-time role as a Pastor, I worked for a large communications company and freelanced as a web designer. I designed the default theme (as of 2025) for the Micro.blog platform amongst many other projects over the years.
At home, I’m a husband to an incredible woman who’s patient with both my ridiculousness and my ever evolving list of interests. We have two kids who constantly surprise me with their curiosity, joy, and humor. They’re the main part of why I do what I do—and they provide countless sermon illustrations (with permission, of course).
This site is written in plain text, but that’s more than a formatting choice—it’s a way of life. I genuinely believe in clear words, quiet faithfulness, and showing up when it matters. If something here resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you.
